Position Description
We are seeking a post-doctoral researcher for a one-year (renewable) project within the MIP:Lab of the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) located at the Campus Biotech in Geneva, Switzerland. The project is at the interface between an industrial partner and the MIP:Lab headed by Prof. Dimitri Van De Ville.
The post-doctoral researcher will join a team of academic and industrial group members to work on new computational modeling frameworks for rapidly time-varying functional networks in late sensory and non-sensory cortex in the context of biofeedback-influenced video viewing. A mix of theoretical, algorithmic, and empirical work is expected, in collaboration with an industrial partner in the healthcare technology/AI field providing behavioral and neural (streaming M/EEG) data. Some first-hand behavioral and neural data (M/EEG) is also expected to be acquired in the Human Neuroscience Platform at the Campus Biotech.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a PhD, strong quantitative, signal processing, and machine learning skills, data analytic expertise (Python and Matlab), and enthusiasm for broadly advancing the treatment of neurological disorders. Experience with human neuroimaging or real-time brain computer interfaces is preferred. Appropriate background/training includes systems or engineering, physics, machine learning and data science, as well as cognitive neuroscience.

Position Description
[May 2021] Postdoctoral position available to work on MRI pipelines [Closed]
To promote open & reproducible science by standardized pipelines for MRI data analysis, a postdoctoral position is available at the EPFL MIP:lab to implement and improve the latest computational methods for functional and structural human MR connectomics into pipelines following state-of-the-art standards (e.g. BIDS, Pydra). A direct foreseeable application is related to imaging data of a large longitudinal cohort of stroke patients.
The ideal candidate is a junior post-doctoral researcher with strong skills in both neuroimaging and software engineering. Experience with python, git and neuroimaging data analysis tools is required, and prior experiences with databases, web development and cloud technologies are a plus. A Master’s degree (or equivalent) in engineering, computer science, or physics is an advantage, but not required.
The position is for one year and renewable for another one, with starting date as soon as possible. The EPFL MIP:lab is located at Campus Biotech, Geneva, a hub for human neuroscience research that hosts laboratories from EPFL, UNIGE and HUG working in both clinical and non-clinical research, as well as in neuroengineering technology research and development.

[February 2021] Research Assistant Position (4 months) [Closed]
This position is for a full-time research assistant for a duration of 4 months within the framework of a larger research project. The project aims to investigate if patients with Parkinson’s disease under treatment could shed light onto the mechanisms of addiction. To do so, we planned to examine if Parkinson’s disease patients and substance dependent patients shared common structural abnormalities as compared to healthy controls.
The candidate will work closely with an interdisciplinary team of engineers, computer scientists, and neurologists. The project will be carried on within the laboratory of Prof. Dimitri Van de Ville at EPFL under the supervision of Dr. Elvira Pirondini and Dr. Vanessa Fleury.
The candidate will focus his/her work on the analysis of diffusion-weighted MR images with the objective to compare Parkinson’s disease, substance dependent patients, and healthy controls.
The candidate should possess a background in Neuroscience, (Neuro)Imaging, or Biomedical Engineering. The Candidate should have skills in at least some of these areas:
• Clinical imaging
• Proficient in coding

The Medical Image Processing Lab (MIP:Lab) has regularly openings for motivated postdoctoral researchers to develop innovative methodologies for computational neuroimaging (fMRI, EEG,…). MIP:Lab is jointly affiliated with the EPFL and the University of Geneva. We closely collaborate with scientists in neuro-engineering (i.e. the Center for Neuroprosthetics) and in clinical and cognitive neurosciences.
Preferred qualities from the applicant include:

Successful applicants will undertake an inter-disciplinary PhD, specializing in the area of signal processing and functional brain imaging.
